On-line shops based in the United Kingdom are subject to the Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) Regulations 2000. It is our intention to adhere fully to these regulations, which can be seen in detail on government sites here and here (click for links).
Product information and prices
Items are sold in single units unless otherwise stated.
Offers may be withdrawn and prices and specifications of any advertised product may be changed at any time without notice. Similarly, improvements and/or changes in design may take place without notice. The availability of any advertised product may change at any time without notice. In any case we would endeavour to keep published descriptions up to date, as far as is reasonably possible.
Prices quoted at the time that each order is completed, are the prices that we will charge. We operate below the UK VAT (Value Added Tax) threshold, so do not charge VAT on our prices.
We sell new, reconditioned, new old-stock and secondhand products. We try to ensure that all our product descriptions clearly show which of these categories apply but, if you are in any doubt, please contact us for clarification before ordering.
Processing and Shipping Orders
Shipping fees are determined by the total weight and the size of the packaged order, the destination and the delivery service being used. A minimal fee is included to cover our packing costs. The shipping fee may also include an additional cost for postage/packing for items that are particularly fragile. Where an order is above the size/weight allowed by our preferred shipping companies or above the value of the insurance provided by them, other arrangements may be possible, in which case an additional charge may apply.
For customer’s convenience, a guide price for shipping will be displayed whenever the customer adds to their cart or changes the contents of it. If the customer is registered with us and logged in, the shipping price shown will take the address provided into account and it will therefore be the actual shipping price to that address, rather than a guide. If the customer has not registered their details on our system or is not logged in, the guide price shown will be based on the cheapest postage option for delivery to mainland UK. Sometimes there may be different delivery options. If so, the price shown will be the cheapest option, until the point at which the customer selects their delivery option (during the checkout process).
The actual shipping fee is displayed before the customer is asked to commit to making payment.
We advise customers to group items in one order, as separately placed orders will incur separate (website-generated) shipping fees, even if shipped in one package.
Depending on shipping company weight thresholds, and also on stock levels and stock location, we may occasionally decide to separate an order into more than one shipment. We will inform the customer if this is the case.
Orders are usually processed and dispatched by the end of the next working day after receiving payment. Sometimes there may be a delay if we are away, (eg at a classic car event), when an order is placed. Occasionally we may be away from the office for more than a few days, in which case we will post a notice on the website, stating our expected return date. Once dispatched, actual shipping times will vary depending on destination and courier/delivery service.
In some circumstances the buyer may collect an order from us in person, as detailed on our Delivery page here.
Vat/Tax & Import Fees, on EU & International orders
We do not charge vat to any of our customers. However orders placed for delivery outside the UK may incur additional fees at the border of the destination country, such as import taxes, vat, or other charges. Rules around imports and the associated costs vary in different countries around the world.
As the importer, the customer is responsible for accepting the import rules and restrictions that apply in the destination country and the customer is liable for any and all such costs that are applied. This acceptance of this responsibility is a condition of the sale.
If an order is not delivered due to the customer not paying any such charges, this is the customer’s decision and we will not issue a refund. However, if such an order is returned to us (in the same condition as when we sent it), we will consider issuing a discretionary refund, less all shipping costs and a handling charge of £10.
Our estimated delivery times can be affected by import procedures. To assist with smooth transition of orders through border controls, we will attach a completed a CR22 Customs Declaration to all orders destined for countries where this is a requirement.
Guarantees and Returns
In addition to buyers’ statutory rights, the new products we sell are guaranteed to the extent of the guarantee offered, if applicable, by the manufacturer of those goods. Claims under guarantee are limited to whatever amount, if any, is recoverable from the manufacturer under such guarantee. Products described as ‘NOS’, ‘new old stock’, ‘used’ or ‘second-hand’ do not carry a manufacturer’s guarantee. If you are unsure about the existence or extent of a guarantee on any product, please contact us for clarification before ordering.
Our returns policy is in accordance with the UK & EU distance selling regulations, which can be seen in detail on government sites here and here (click for links). These regulations include the right to cancel an order by written notification within seven days of completion of a contract. There are some exceptions to this, as described in detail here (click for link), but most do not apply to the types of items we sell. In all cases, we ask that you contact us in writing or by email as soon as possible, so that we can rectify any problems without delay. The return of any goods must be arranged by the buyer and at the buyer’s expense and risk. Please ensure that you obtain a certificate of posting from the post office or the equivalent if using another delivery company. Any returned items must be complete, including all packaging, and must be in the same condition as when supplied. Our returns address is: 3 Eton Road, Worthing, West Sussex, BN11 4RA. Incorrectly supplied goods should be returned within seven days of receipt. Any credit due will normally be made within five working days of us receiving the returned goods. We would not normally accept any item for credit if it has been fitted or used, unless it was faulty when supplied. Incomplete, damaged or defaced items will not be accepted for credit. We can accept no liability for any loss or damage caused in transit. In the event of any item being lost or damaged in transit, please refer to the ‘Taking Delivery’ paragraph on our ‘Deliveries’ page here.
Any disputes or complaints should be made directly to us by email or in writing, giving full details of the dispute or complaint and the name, address and telephone number of the buyer, the details of their account with RetroSpec Parts (excluding any password) and, if applicable, the relevant order number. We would normally acknowledge receipt of such information within 4 working days and would aim to resolve it within 10 working days.
