Vintage Citroën HY Catering Van
A fully restored iconic 1972 Citroën HY van, professionally converted for mobile catering by Towability Trailer’s and used for literally 100’s of weddings, private parties and corporate events over the last few years at some fantastic venues. A real eye-catching food truck which has been in high demand each year. It is particularly popular with couples planning barn/tipi type weddings and a good income can be made from the wedding market alone!
The van was imported to the UK and registered with the DVLA in 2014 and has a current V5C document. As a classic van it is MOT and road tax exempt.
The van has been properly serviced and maintained each year and has received a number of upgrades – all carried out by the Citroen HY Van experts at Dragon Classics, including:
– Ford Pinto 2.0l engine transplant – making the van much more reliable and easier/cheaper to maintain
– Electric Power steering
– Brake upgrades
– LED headlamps
– New gearbox
– New stainless-steel exhaust
– New battery in May
– Full seat re-upholstery to both driver and passenger seats – very comfortable
– Spare tyre in the front cab
We also had the bodywork completely restored and resprayed by JF Bodyworks in 2020 who did an unbelievable job and the body of the van is in fantastic condition (the van has been dry stored). As with all vans of this age, you need to keep on top of the maintenance, and I can provide contact details for all the people we have used as well as paperwork for all the above work including full-service history.
The back of the van was converted by Towability Mobile Catering with full stainless-steel walls and ceiling, worktops and gas/electric install. I also had a brand-new Altro floor put in just a couple of years ago. The kitchen is currently kitted out with the following:
– Double tank LPG Lincat fryer
– Single tank LPG Lotus fryer
– These both have quick release connections and can easily be switched out for different equipment if required
– External gas compartment fits 2 x 13kg LPG bottles
– Electric Bain Marie and Chip Scuttle
– Happy to sell the van without the two fryers, Bain Marie and chip scuttle if required – the kitchen area would then be a complete blank canvas
– Dual stainless-steel sinks and mixer tap providing hot and cold water
– Under counter fridge
– Large service hatch along the length of the kitchen
– Smaller rear service hatch along the rear of the van providing a 2nd service point option and extra ventilation
– Large customer shelves beneath both hatches
– Fuse box on a 16-amp commando plug (cable included) powering internal lighting, two double 13-amp sockets and the undercounter fridge
– This van has always maintained a 5-star food hygiene rating and has a current gas safety certificate valid to October.
This van has helped make my business successful over a number of years; selling due to a change in circumstances meaning I’m looking to reduce my workload in the next couple of years. Please let me know if you have any questions?
