1988 Citroën 2CV6 Special Sold

Sold £6,200 Hereford ref # C4S-27292

Description
For sale is my 1988 Citroen 2CV, which I purchased 3 years ago as a bit of a project. It is equipped with a galvanised chassis and has covered 102k miles however it had been sat in a garage unused from 2012 until 2021. It has a long MOT expiring May 2025.
Since I purchased the car I have been using it daily and completed the following work.
The bodyshell was removed from the chassis and extensive welding was carried out including replacement lower bulkhead, floor pans, sills, door pillar repairs, complete seat box, complete boot floor and inner rear wings.
The engine has received a top end rebuild with new piston rings and honed barrels, the valves reseated and new oil seals where possible.
The carburettor has been re-jetted and rubber fuel pipes upgraded to compensate for modern ethanol fuel. The ignition system has been upgraded to 123 electronic ignition with a stronger yellow Harley Davidson coil.
The front suspension arms have new kingpins and have been reinforced with a ‘Belgian arm’ third bearing above the hub, this almost eliminates kingpin wear and makes the steering feel a lot more direct.
The headlights have been upgraded to high quality LED bulbs which have the correct beam pattern.
The front seats have been rebuilt with new foam, centre strips and rubber rings. Heated seat elements were installed with the necessary wiring and switches on the upper dashboard. These work really well !
I have also recently treated the car to a new battery and some new front tyres- rears aren’t new but plenty of tread. Paintwork wise, this car is far from perfect in fact I would describe it as scruffy and mismatched. If you’re after a solid and useable 2CV that you can commute in and park anywhere without worrying about someone opening their door into you – this is perfect.
