1979 Citroën CX Super 2400 For Sale

£9,995 Stockport ref # C4S-32416

Tentatively selling my 1979 Citroen CX. Too many cars, too little space!

It’s a 1979 CX Super 2400 4 speed in Vert Dryade, which was a one year only colour (also available on the LN oddly!) I’ve had it around a year, purchasing it from the first owner who imported it to the UK in around 2019.

It is a lovely colour combo, and one of the last with the carburettor 2.4 engine from the D, so simpler than the later stuff but not too far off an early GTI power wise. Ideally it could do with a 5th gear if you want to cruise above 65, but it doesn’t hang around when you put your foot down! Approximately 97000km on the clock, so just under 60k miles from new. When the previous owner bought it he had the brakes rebuilt and replaced the spheres and did around 5k miles in it. The self centering DIRAVI steering works perfectly and it doesn’t drop any LHM. It was originally supplied in department 54 and was clearly loved going off the condition.

It’s as good underneath as it is on top. The interior is also original and as close to mint as you’ll find on one of these – no issues with the door cards or tears to the velour upholstery. I wasn’t convinced it was self levelling correctly at the front, so I had the height correctors serviced by Dave Ashworth Citroen Services last year.

They also went through it replacing myriad belts, rocker cover gasket, plugs etc along with the usual full service. As a precautionary measure I also replaced all under bonnet fuel hoses, added a NOS fuel pump, a proper Citroen points and condenser set along with new dizzy cap and leads. I managed to source the proper vacuum advance for it, as that was past its best. I also replaced the rear tyres and sourced a coolant cap as it wasn’t holding any pressure. It doesn’t use any oil or water.

I also stocked up on oil filters at last year’s flea market and have another points and condenser as a back up so those will be included too.

Everything inside works bar the clock. It comes with some cool accessory bits like the rear louvres (easily removable) and wind deflectors. There is also some original Citroen seat covers in the boot too. I also had some French style plates made up for it, which aren’t to everyone’s taste but I think look great on a Mk1 with the chrome bumpers.

Offers welcome. I don’t particularly want to sell this as it’s such a unique car spec and condition-wise, but I’ve too many cars, and too little space! Please phone for more details.
