MirrorCool Convex Mirror Glass for Cipa mirror with reference number ’54’, ‘195’, ‘225’ or ‘35215’ stamped into the back of the mirror housing.
Please note: This (138mm x 87mm) glass is only compatible with our flexible surround. It will not fit with the original hard plastic surround, so if your mirror still has the original hard surround, then please do not order this glass. Instead, please order the ‘Mirror Glass & Surround Kit’ applicable to your mirror.
Made to EU automotive standards (as used on modern vehicle door mirrors): 2.8mm thick, 13.5m radius glass, first-surface chromed, with a slight tint.
Convex mirrors give the driver a wider field of view, however this also means that images in the mirror appear to be further away than they actually are. This information is not printed on the glass and so may not be suitable for some areas outside the EU, where this may be a legal requirement.
Cipa 54, 195, and 225 mirrors were fitted as original equipment to a huge number of Citroens, Peugeots, & Renaults, some Simcas / Chryslers and also some Morgans. Citroen models included higher spec DS (Pallas etc).
Cipa 35215 mirrors were original equipment on early Citroen Ami 8 and on a few other French classic cars. They were usually painted a light silvery-grey. They are prone to rusting and so it is often difficult to see the reference number. More recently however, very poor quality chrome-plated copies of this mirror have been commonly sold as cheap replacements for many classic Citroens, Peugeots, & Renaults.
