Easy-to-fit drum-brake adjuster kit for Citroen 2CV, Dyane, Ami, ID, DS.
Can be used for any of the following, (unlike the more expensive copies* that are sold elsewhere):
-
- Front brake on A-series with smaller (200mm) drums, (2CV, Dyane4, AZU, etc)
- Front brake on A-series with larger (220mm) drums, (Dyane6, Ami, AK, etc)
- Rear brake on A-series (2CV, Dyane, Ami, AZU, AK, etc)
- Rear brake on ID/DS
Please note that 2 kits are required for each drum brake.
The original 2cv/Dyane/Ami/DS adjuster will often seize, meaning that the brakes can not be adjusted, which will lead to excessive brake pedal travel. If new shoes are to be fitted, it may be impossible to obtain sufficient clearance to refit the brake drum if the adjusters can not be freed (which is often extremely difficult). Until now the alternative has been to try to fit replacement original parts (if you can get them) which involves peening over the pin while maintaining pressure on the domed washers: not easy!
Now we have a much easier alternative.
Due to its design, our brake-adjuster is much easier to fit than the original type of adjuster and it is much less likely to become seized than the original. It can be lubricated in place, but if if you ever feel the need to remove it, this can easily be done without destroying it, (unlike the original), so it can then be re-fitted and re-used.
*PLEASE NOTE: The report in the December 2020 edition of 2cvGB News magazine about there being a problem with some replacement brake adjusters was NOT this product. We know of another other parts supplier who, after seeing our kit, then produced their own, copying the screw-together idea but retaining other problematic parts of the original design. It appears that the 2cvGB article may be referring to that supplier’s product, (or another supplier’s copy), as it describes and shows images of components that are different to those we supply in our easy-fit brake adjuster kit.
