Mirror head-to-arm swivel kit developed for the 2cv’s original Geco mirrors but successfully used on many other mirrors found on various Citroëns, Peugeots, Renaults and others, including Geco 22, 274, 275, Cipa 54, 195, 320, 355, 358, 35215, Gemo 438 and others*.
This kit uses a special curved washer (which can be used instead of the plastic half-ball that is used inside 2cv and some other mirrors), and a set of precision-made springs to maintain the correct swivel tension. To prevent corrosion caused by water ingress we have used stainless steel (inox) fixings, a rubber seal on the curved washer and a compressible nylon spacer sleeve under the head of the stainless steel screw. (This spacer is cut to the correct length for a 2cv mirror but for other mirrors can be cut down to whatever size length gives the desired spacing or, if no spacing is required, it can be discarded).
If you already have a MirrorCool silicone surround trim on your mirror, the glass and trim can be removed and re-fitted in order to fit a new swivel kit. However, if you still have the original hard plastic surround on your mirror, you may need a MirrorCool silicone surround trim kit, some of which come with a new convex glass.
We have instructions in our “Support” section for using this kit on the original 2cv mirror. If fitting to a different type of mirror, these instructions may still be relevant or may at least be a useful starting point in helping you to decide the best way to use this kit for your particular mirror. *Obviously it may not be suitable for all combinations of mirror heads and arms (but at this price, it may be worth a try, to save an otherwise useless broken mirror). It is not suitable for mirror arms that do not have a visible screw-head where the mirror-head is attached.
