MirrorCool Glass & Surround Kit Combined*, for Geco mirror with reference number ’22’ , ‘274’ or ‘275’ stamped into the back of the mirror housing. (Also suitable for Gemo mirror with ‘438‘ reference number).
(*If you don’t need a new glass, you may prefer our GECO22S kit instead, which is identical but without a glass).
This kit includes:
- Flexible silicone rubber grey surround trim. (UV & temperature resistant, so won’t shrink or crack: will remain flexible).
- Convex* mirror glass, (140mm x 92mm). Best available: Made to EU automotive standard (1st-surface chromed convex glass with slight tint): 2.8mm thick, 13.5m radius glass, first-surface chromed, with a slight tint. These are not the cheap semi-flexible 1.5mm thick glasses that are supplied by some other suppliers.
- Foam backing/spacing pad. (Waterproof closed-cell).
Geco 22, 274, 275 mirrors (with various different arms) were fitted to almost all Citroen 2CV, Dyane, Ami, Mehari, AK, etc, (from early 70s to 1990), and some other Citroens, Peugeots, Renaults and also some Morgans. They were sometimes also supplied as after-market accessory mirrors as well as extended towing mirrors. They were usually stainless steel (inox) but sometimes plastic-coated mild steel, (eg: light grey plastic coating on Citroen 2cv vans, black plastic-coating on some Renault 4).
Gemo 438 mirrors were made in Spain under licence by ‘Gemo’ and are identical to Geco 22, 274, 275 mirrors.
*Convex mirrors give the driver a wider field of view, however this also means that images in the mirror appear to be further away than they actually are. This information is not printed on the glass and so may not be suitable for some parts of the world, where this may be a legal requirement.
