Not so good
Rear wings are not the ones that came with the car when I bought it. It came with cutaway fibreglass ones that I didn’t like and I bought the currently fitted ones second hand and ‘rattle can’ painted them myself. Really, it could do with a new pair professionally painted. They’re around £70 each from ECAS and easy to fit.
There’s evidence of filler around the rear number plate and it’s started to crack. This area could do with attention, but is not urgent.
Conclusion
I have two 2CVs in very similar condition and this was always intended to be the ‘keeper’ but I’ve changed my mind, deciding to keep my blue one. It’s seen many improvements over the last year, and is brilliant to drive – always starting easily hot or cold.
This has the advantage of not being far off historic status! (tax and MOT exempt).
MOT history is good, with the only advisory being for a mild oil leak. This is a barely noticeable, occasional drip. The engine doesn’t use oil and the car doesn’t leave a mess on the drive.
The car was previously owned by someone who was the technical writer for the 2CVGB club. He carried out a restoration including the galvanised chassis around 20yrs ago. It’s in good shape and very usable and enjoyable as it is. That said it could use some tidying up cosmetically and this is reflected in the price, which is £4000 (no offers please).
*** Please note that the currently fitted towbar is not included and will be carefully removed before sale***
